And never at all costs allow them to link "pain" with grooming. It is advisable to first get them used to the brush. Play with them with it and let them see that it is not a evil thing. Cats are curious and if you get down on the floor with a brush they will come to you to see what you have. Run it along the back of their head and back. They love to be brushed in areas that they cannot reach so under the chin is always a favorite spot.<br /><br />The grooming tools are critical so as not to injur your cat. I use small scissors to cut out matts. I was told by a groomer to insert the blades into the matt and cut out away from the cat numerous times until the matt will comb out. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CUT OUT A MATT SIDEWAYS. THIS COULD WIND UP WITH A HORRIBLE INJURY!<br /><br />I am going to add on to this blog and need everyone's help.
